In the world of pitching development, it’s tempting to think there’s some magical formula out there—a silver bullet that will instantly add velocity, sharpen command, and keep you healthy for years to come. But let me tell you a truth that’s as freeing as it is challenging: There is no secret.
Sure, you’ll hear about revolutionary weighted ball programs, magical mechanical tweaks, and cutting-edge strength routines. And don’t get me wrong, these are all fantastic tools. But none of them—not one—will be the answer on their own. At The Florida Baseball ARMory, we’ve spent decades studying what it truly takes to develop elite pitchers. The secret? Efficiency of movement. That’s the key.
Let’s unpack this idea and see how it connects to our SAVAGE Training Programs—because the truth is, you can achieve your wildest pitching dreams. And we’re here to help you get there.
The Anatomical Luge
Picture this: You’re watching the Winter Olympics, and it’s the luge event. The winner isn’t the one who glides down the course without adjustments; it’s the one who makes the best instantaneous corrections to stay centered and hit each checkpoint with precision. That’s efficiency.
Now, apply that metaphor to pitching. As you move through your delivery, your body navigates its own anatomical luge, passing through key checkpoints: the pelvis, the abdominals, the shoulder, the elbow, and finally, post-release deceleration. Each pitch is a unique trip down the course. Perfection isn’t possible. What matters is your ability to make rapid adjustments to minimize energy leaks.
If you want to hit a ball harder, it would be helpful if the bat traveled faster as it impacted the ball. Likewise, if you want to throw the ball harder, it would be great if your hand traveled faster as it released the ball. But we must remember that neither the bat nor the ball travels through space directly. You can't see it, but microscopic wobbling occurs, and with each wobble, energy leaks out. That same principle applies to your entire body during a pitch. Microscopic wobbling—imperfections in timing or muscle activation—steals energy. Tightening that wobble is the key to velocity, command, and durability.
Speed Is a Skill
Efficiency isn’t just about muscles and mechanics; it’s about skill. Speed is a skill, and it’s built from the inside out—from a single muscle cell to groups of cells, to muscle fibers, to muscles, to limbs, and finally, to your entire body. Every time an adjustment in this chain is late or out of sync, energy leaks. Those leaks compound over the duration of a pitch, causing you to throw slower, less accurately, and with greater risk of injury.
At The Florida Baseball ARMory, we specialize in teaching pitchers how to move with precision and efficiency. We’ve worked with thousands of pitchers, helping over 580 develop 90+ mph fastballs. Collectively, our athletes have earned millions in college scholarships and over $28 million in MLB signing bonuses.

Real Results
Here’s what happens when you embrace the SAVAGE approach:
- Velocity: By tightening up those microscopic wobbles, you’ll maximize the energy transfer from your body to the ball.
- Command: Efficiency isn’t just about speed; it’s about repeatability. When your body moves efficiently, your pitches land where you want them to.
- Durability: Energy leaks don’t just steal velocity—they put unnecessary stress on your arm. Efficiency means less strain and greater longevity.
Over the years, we’ve seen pitchers transform their careers. From high school players overlooked by recruiters to professionals signing multi-million-dollar contracts, the SAVAGE system works for everyone willing to put in the effort.
Why It Matters
At The Florida Baseball ARMory, we believe that baseball is more than a game. It’s a metaphor for life. Every pitch is a chance to overcome challenges, adapt to adversity, and pursue excellence. Our motto says it all: “God doesn’t make junk. Human tissue doesn’t have free will.” You have everything you need to succeed. All that’s left is the right plan and the determination to execute it.
